Co-Driveris built and operated by Bennett Enterprises (“Bennett Enterprises,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains what information Co-Driver collects across our web app (codrivergps.com) and mobile apps, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to every CDL owner-operator and driver who creates a Co-Driver account.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information directly from you or automatically as you use Co-Driver:
- Account information. Email address and authentication credentials, handled by our identity provider, Clerk.
- Truck / rig profile. Vehicle type, height, weight, length, width, hazmat status and class, and CDL class — used to check routes against DOT clearance rules.
- Precise location data. Real-time GPS location while you use live navigation, and the addresses/coordinates of routes you plan or save. Location data drives turn-by-turn guidance, speed-limit and bridge-clearance warnings, and Turn Protection™ (automatic reroute detection).
- Documents you upload. Files you choose to store in the Document Vault (e.g. registration, insurance, permits) and receipts you attach to Pay Protection records.
- Pay Protection records. Detention, lumper, and toll events you log, including timestamps, amounts, and notes, used to build broker-dispute evidence packets.
- Gig Mode earnings. Platform name and earnings figures you enter for multi-stop/delivery route tracking.
- Assistant conversations. Messages you send to Safety Pete, our in-app AI assistant, and the responses it returns.
- Subscription and billing status. Your plan tier and subscription status. Payment is processed by Polar; Co-Driver does not receive or store your full card number.
- Usage analytics. App usage events (e.g. route planned, navigation started, onboarding completed) tied to your account, collected via PostHog.
- Diagnostics. Crash reports and error logs, collected via Sentry, to help us find and fix bugs.
How we use your information
- To provide truck-legal route planning, live navigation, and Turn Protection™.
- To check your rig specs against DOT bridge/weight/width/hazmat restrictions and warn you before you hit them.
- To generate spoken turn-by-turn instructions (via ElevenLabs) and map/geocoding results (via Mapbox).
- To process payments and manage your subscription (via Polar).
- To create the documents, evidence packets, and share links you explicitly ask Co-Driver to create — for example, an Inspection Mode link or a Pay Protection evidence packet.
- To operate, secure, and improve Co-Driver — including fixing bugs and understanding which features are actually used.
- To communicate with you about your account, billing, or support requests.
When we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these circumstances:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf to run Co-Driver: Clerk (authentication), Convex (database/backend), Mapbox (maps, geocoding, routing), Polar (payment processing), PostHog (product analytics), Sentry (crash/error monitoring), ElevenLabs (voice synthesis for turn-by-turn audio), and Anthropic (Safety Pete's AI responses). Each processes only the data needed to perform its function and is bound by its own privacy obligations to us.
- Links you choose to create and share. Inspection Mode and Pay Protection evidence packets generate a time-limited link that you control and choose who to send it to (for example, a DOT inspector or a broker). Anyone with that link can view the truck profile, documents, or pay records it contains until it expires or you revoke it.
- Legal requirements. If required to comply with a subpoena, court order, or applicable law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Co-Driver, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. If Bennett Enterprises is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy (or a successor policy you're notified of).
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations and to resolve disputes. Inspection Mode and Pay Protection links expire automatically after the time window you set, or immediately if you revoke them.
Your choices and rights
You can review and edit your truck profile, documents, and Pay Protection records directly in the app at any time. Co-Driver does not currently offer a self-service account deletion button — to request deletion of your account and associated data, or to exercise any other privacy right available to you under applicable law (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the EU/UK GDPR), email us at hello@bennettenterprises.com and we will process your request.
Location permissions
Co-Driver's core features — live navigation, speed-limit warnings, and Turn Protection™ — require precise location access while the app is in use. On mobile, you can manage or revoke this permission at any time in your device's Settings app, though doing so will disable live navigation.
Children's privacy
Co-Driver is intended for commercial CDL drivers and is not directed to, and should not be used by, anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — including encryption in transit, scoped access controls, and reputable third-party infrastructure providers — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Co-Driverevolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
